2023 scholarship winner Ryan Gleicher

SPJ Florida’s scholarship committee is thrilled to announce its 2023 college scholarship winner, Ryan Gleciher, a senior at the University of Miami.

He is double majoring in broadcast journalism and public relations practice; during his college career, he has immersed himself in journalism, including an assignment desk intern for TMZ Sports, a play-by-play commentator and producer for WVUM, lead reporter for the UMTV SportsDesk, and this year, he started working as an associate producer at CBS 4 Miami. A memorable experience for Gleicher was covering the Final Four and networking with fellow journalists Jim Nantz and Ernie Johnson, deepening his passion for journalism.

“I have a lot of different aspirations, however, it is all centered around journalism,” Gleicher wrote. “The prime area I never want to abandon is storytelling. Giving a person a voice who previously was voiceless is a dream of mine.”
