Annual Diversity Mixer a Huge Success

SPJ South Florida Pro was proud to team up with local diversity journalism groups last month and host our second annual Diversity Mixer. More than 50 attendees showed up to the event, to mix and mingle at Hollywood Vine in Hollywood.

“We doubled the participation over last year’s event and everyone seemed to have a great time. Hopefully we’ll turn this into an annual tradition here in South Florida. It was great to introduce the members of these organizations to each other and also meet their leaders,” said SPJSoFla President Jason Parsley. “SPJ is committed to encouraging diversity, both in coverage, as well as, in the newsroom.”

Five organizations partnered with SPJSoFla including ; SFBJA – South Florida Black Journalists Association; NAHJ – National Association of Hispanic Journalists; AAJA – Asian American Journalists Association; NAJA – Native American Journalists Association; and NLGJA – National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association.
