Chapter Hosts WordPress 101 Session
With more journalists wanting to move their work portfolios onto a website, SPJ Florida hosting a WordPress 101 session on May 16 in Fort Lauderdale.
In partnership with shared workspace General Provision, chef-turned-web-developer Josh Del Sesto lead a session to a dozen journalists and budding web builders, walking through from beginning to end of working on their website.
“A journalist’s visibility during a Google search is important for recruiters, and having a website—even a small one—can give them so much insight into your skills and work,” said Christiana Lilly, SPJ Florida president.
In his session, Del Sesto covered hosting providers, domain names, WordPress themes, must-have plug-ins, the initial set up, SEO basics, and more.
The chapter would like to thank General Provision for offering its space for the workshop. Located in FAT Village in downtown Fort Lauderdale, the co-working space features desks and private offices, coffee and craft beer on tap, recording space, free monthly massages and yoga. General Provision recently started its community membership for just $100 per month.
