Chapter President Featured in Quill

SPJ South Florida Pro President Jason Parsley is featured in the March/April issue of Quill, SPJ National’s member magazine.

In the featured profile, Parsley discusses his rise to position as Associate Publisher of South Florida Gay News – Florida’s only LGBT newspaper – only six years after graduating college, along with how he wants to win SPJ’s Chapter of the Year.

Parsley and the other chapter leaders have emphasized programming as the way to strengthen the group. Since Parsley became president in December, the chapter has seen varying success in its programming and member-engagement efforts: Google hangouts for the whole chapter, weekly Q-and-A’s with local journalists, and creative events like an obituary-writing contest.
