Gold Coast PR Council Raises Money for SPJ Florida
The Gold Coast PR Council recently held their annual awards luncheon where they honored the best of the best in PR for 2013. In addition, the organization decided that any money raised from their raffle would benefit SPJ Florida.
In turn, SPJ Florida created a legal defense fund for journalists where the money will be used to aid journalists in defending the freedom of speech and press guaranteed by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. SPJ national also has a legal defense fund.
“In honor of the 10th Annual Bernays Awards, the Gold Coast PR Council wanted to show support of our colleagues in the media, without whom we could not effectively do our jobs as PR professionals. Therefore, we were thrilled to celebrate this occasion and raise funds to support Florida journalists requiring defense of their rights,” said Dan Shube, Vice President of the GCPRC and CMO of Labor Finders International.
“I am so pleased that SPJ Florida was able to partner with GCPRC. They’re a wonderful organization,” said SPJ Florida President Jason Parsley. “We’re also excited to announce our newly created legal defense fund. Hopefully we’ll continue to raise money for the fund in the years to come.”
