High School Journalism Grant

With journalism advisers receiving little support and high school newsrooms struggling to keep their operations afloat, SPJ Florida is excited to offer a High School Newsroom Grant! Your newsroom can apply for up to $500 — simply tell us what you will use the grant for and why your newsroom is so deserving.

Seriously, it’s that easy. SPJ Florida believes high school newsrooms are fundamental parts of any community, and that the work that students do matters. That’s why we put our money where our mouth is, as well as being active in high school journalism conferences around the state (and country!). Plus, students who are exposed to the media world early on have a head start in the communications industry after high school.

Applications are open to all Florida high schools with a media program — big or small. If selected, winners must turn in a 500-word recap of how the money helped them, due by the end of the school year.

The deadline to apply has been extended to Friday, Feb. 10, 2023.
