Honor the Late Larry Peterson by Sponsoring the Larry Peterson Memorial Award

The Society of Professional Journalists – Region 3 and the Savannah Morning News are introducing a new award for exceptional work under the category of investigative journalism. The award is named after a distinguished Georgia investigative journalist from Savannah, Georgia — Larry Peterson.

Larry Peterson, a political writer and editor for the Savannah Morning News, passed away in 2014 after 40 years of working in the journalism industry. His wife, Lanie Lippincott Peterson, a SPJ Georgia member, is a freelance business reporter at the Savannah Morning News and also carries a substantial portfolio of her own journalism career. It is her wish for SPJ Georgia and the Savannah Morning News to celebrate Larry by creating the Larry Peterson Memorial Award for Investigative Journalism. It is an award to recognize journalism professionals and students who have produced quality investigative reporting in either broadcast, print, online or radio.

Honor the late Larry Peterson by sponsoring what you can. Levels include:

1. Platinum Medal = $5000 + : Your logo on all marketing and Larry Peterson Award workshop publications; banner at Larry Peterson Award Workshop; a duplicate Peterson Award engraved acrylic award for sponsors; a reserved table at the workshop for up to eight individuals; hotel and airfare for two individuals will be covered for the event if the sponsor is not from Savannah area; sponsors’ dinner for two
2. Gold Medal = $2500 + : Your logo on all marketing and Larry Peterson Award workshop publications; a smaller duplicate Peterson Award engraved acrylic award; reserved table for up to four, hotel accommodations for one individual plus mileage reimbursement if sponsor is not from Savannah area; sponsors’ dinner for two.
3. Silver Medal = $1000 + : Smaller logo on all marketing and workshop publications; an engraved acrylic award for sponsorship; reserved seat at workshop; sponsors’ dinner for two.
4. Bronze Medal = $500 + : Smaller logo on all marketing and workshop publications; reserved seat at workshop; sponsors’ dinner for two.
5. Sapphire Medal = $250 +: Listed as sponsor in Larry Peterson Award workshop program; reserved seat at workshop; attendance at sponsors’ dinner for two.
6. Ruby Medal = $100 +: Listed as sponsor in Larry Peterson Award workshop program; reserved seat at workshop
7. Crystal Medal = Up to $99: Listed as sponsor in Larry Peterson Award workshop program
