WordPress and Journalism Event Feb. 6

South Florida WordPress Meetup group, WPMIA, will host a WordPress and Journalism event on Feb. 6 in Davie. Special guest speaker, Rebekah Monson, will discuss why and how we use WordPress, what we need help with, and more.

Rebekah is the communication manager for the School of Communication at the University of Miami, where she is pursuing an MFA in interactive media. She was previously at the Sun Sentinel, and continues to work as a freelance editor, designer and consultant on digital media projects.

Rebekah will discuss how many kinds of news organizations are using WordPress, showing examples from around the world and right here in Florida. She’ll highlight strengths and challenges of using WordPress for journalism and provide some resources for journalists and developers who are interested in using the platform for news.
