Zombie Stories: In Review

Zombie Stories was the Region 3 Regional Conference, co-sponsored by SPJ Florida. It took place in New Orleans, in tandem with the College Media Advisers/Associated Collegiate Press convention. The Oct. 26 event drew more than 70 participants who interviewed zombies (members of NOLA’s Krewe of the Living Dead) at the risk of being sprayed with blood for asking bad questions. A panel of judges from SPJ Florida and Meg Wagner, SPJ National Student Rep. and Mashable intern, judged the entries using the cloud. Winners were made up themselves as zombies by KOLD’s capable hands.

“Michael Koretzky and Gideon Grudo hit it out of the park again with Zombie Stories – a creative and fun way to get journalism students excited about excellent journalism,” said SPJ National President David Cuillier. “It was my pleasure to witness brilliance in action, along with various scarring, gaping wounds and vacant looks, much like some legislative bodies I’ve covered. I can’t wait for the next innovative Region 3 event!”
